Areej research explores the impact of language barriers on pediatric emergency care. Using data from the IWK Health Emergency Department, Areej examined whether children and families requiring interpretation services experience differences in emergency department length of stay, access to care, and clinical outcomes compared with English-speaking families. The findings aim to identify healthcare disparities and support future initiatives to improve equity and accessibility in pediatric emergency medicine.
