The Dalhousie Department of Emergency Medicine is excited to announce the addition of an Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) Fellowship program based out of the QEII Health Science Centre, the tertiary academic center for Nova Scotia.
The 12-month PoCUS HFX Fellowship will host up to two fellows per year beginning, July 2023. Participants will perfect their basic and advanced EM PoCUS protocols and be involved in departmental Quality Assurance image review. They will also work with our EM nerve block and trauma programs, develop EM PoCUS research projects and instruct medical students, EM residents and take part in continuing professional development PoCUS programs. At completion, fellows will have the skillset to be leaders in the EM PoCUS community and prepared to direct their own ultrasound programs.
Halifax and the Maritimes, are noted for their exceptional quality of life, with excellent entertainment and cuisine options and culturally diverse communities. Outdoor recreation enthusiasts will have unparalleled opportunities with Kayaking, Surfing, Mountain biking, Hiking and Skiing all within proximity to the clinical sites.
Interested applicants should have completed Emergency Medicine specialty training and be practice eligible for a full Nova Scotia medical license by the time of matriculation. Royal College EM Residents in training will be considered on a case-by-case basis with funding coming from their home program.
