The Executive Committee (ADEMEC) of DalEM’s Halifax Infirmary and IWK sites recently approved the newest clinical/academic funding plan and updated its practice plan as recommended by the department’s Practice Plan Advisory Committee. The new clinical/academic funding plan contract was approved this past August and since that time department leaders have been gathering information on the updated clinical/academic funding plan and waiting on new funding to begin flowing to the department.

The highlights of the new clinical/academic funding plan include:

• the introduction of a new tertiary rate
• minimum across-the-board increases of 3%, 3%, 2% and 2%
• additional funded hours from the Murray hybrid for indirect patient care and inclusion of LWBS

Department Head Dr. Kirk Magee will host a town hall meeting in the near future for members of the clinical/academic funding plan department to provide more detail and answer any questions members may have.
