Academic Activities
- EM Rounds are held every Wednesday from 1200 – 1300.
- EM Rounds take place in the Royal Bank Theatre, 1st Floor Halifax Infirmary Hospital
- EM Rounds take place in person, but offered virtually.
- EM Rounds (with the exception of M&M/Death Rounds) are recorded.
- Grand and Interdisciplinary Case Rounds are open to all Emergency Medicine Allied Healthcare Professionals throughout the region.
- M&M/Death Rounds are open to Emergency Medicine Allied Healthcare Professionals at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital.
Confidentiality of Emergency Medicine Rounds
All information presented at EM Rounds is for the purpose of (in-house) education, training and clinical applications. There will be no other disclosure of what is presented and discussed at Rounds except as authorized by the Presenter(s) and/or the Department of Emergency Medicine. All information concerning patients at the QEII Health Sciences Centre is confidential. If confidentiality is breached, a penalty will apply.
- Rounds take place at the IWK Health Centre with an option to join virtually.
- PEM ED Rounds are held every Wednesday morning from September through to June with a break for the summer, while PEM Resident Rounds run from July to June (current academic year) at the IWK Health Centre with an option to join virtually. Rounds are presented by faculty, residents or visiting professors and cover a wide range of topics. All members of the IWK Community are invited.
Confidentiality of ED and Fellow Rounds
All information presented at ED and Resident Rounds are for the sole purpose of (in-house) education, training and clinical applications. There will be no other disclosure of what is presented and discussed at the Rounds except as authorized by the Presenter(s) and/or the Department of Emergency Medicine. All information concerning patients at the IWK Health Centre is confidential. If confidentiality is breached, a penalty may apply. These Rounds are open to PEM Residents, Off-Service House staff, Nurses, Pediatrics and Faculty.
Confidentiality of Grand Rounds
All information presented at Grand Rounds is for the purpose of (in-house) education, training and clinical applications. There will be no other disclosure of what is presented and discussed at the Rounds except as authorized by the Presenter(s) and/or the Faculty of Medicine. All information concerning patients at the IWK Health Centre is confidential. These Rounds are open to IWK Health Centre Staff and Dalhousie University Faculty.
