Patient Care
Improving Health Outcomes
The activities of the Division of EMS impact patient care through the transfer and exchange of knowledge. These knowledge translation activities form one of the primary activities of the Division. Knowledge sharing occurs in diverse settings such as EMS Research Day, Paramedic Journal Clubs which can be joined on-line from across the Maritimes, to browsing the Prehospital Evidence Based Practice (PEP) database for critically appraised research, to learning the fundamentals of critical appraisal and searching for literature through the Paramedic Evidence Based Practice Course.
The Division seeks to improve population health outcomes through activities that will impact health policy. For example, through evidence synthesis and incorporation of the PEP recommendations into the EHS Nova Scotia clinical practice guidelines.
